Seizures and epilepsy in the elderly.
Recent data indicate that the incidence and prevalence of seizures and epilepsy rise substantially in the elderly. Little well-founded information is available on which to base treatment decisions. This article discusses cause, diagnostic evaluation, and antiepileptic drug pharmacology. Tentative treatment suggestions are offered, emphasizing the limits of available knowledge.
متن کاملLecture 15: Recurrent Neural Nets
Most of the prediction tasks we’ve looked at have involved pretty simple kinds of outputs, such as real values or discrete categories. But much of the time, we’re interested in predicting more complex structures, such as images or sequences. The next three lectures are about producing sequences; we’ll get to producing images later in the course. If the inputs and outputs are both sequences, we ...

متن کاملMicroglia after Seizures and in Epilepsy.
Microglia are the resident immune cells in the brain that constitute the brain's innate immune system. Recent studies have revealed various functions of microglia in the development and maintenance of the central nervous system (CNS) in both health and disease. However, the role of microglia in epilepsy remains largely undiscovered, partly because of the complex phenotypes of activated microgli...
متن کاملHIGH-DOSE ORAL PYRIDOXINE FOR TREATMENT OF PEDIATRIC RECURRENT INTRACTABLE SEIZURES
Intractable epilepsy is a common clinical problem in pediatrics and approximately 13% of children with epilepsy experience intractable seizures. To determine the efficacy of pyridoxine in treating seizures, 30 infants and children with recurrent seizures were enrolled in the present study. All of them were treated with high-dose oral pyridoxine (40 mg/kg/day), as an adjunct to antiepileptic...
